Blood: The Last Vampire - Videogame - OST - Yuki Kajiura

As promised - here is the score to the Blood: The Last Vampire Videogame - by Yuki Kajiura. I actually ended up getting this by accident - back when I was at a convention looking for the Blood OST - I ran across this - and being oh-so-excited, instantly snapped it up without actually reading the full title. Oh well - such is my (and your) reward for being hyperactive.

I'm a little short on time tonight - as I should probably get a head-start on my summer studying (does it ever end??) So I'll simply post the track listing (As, strangely enough, this one IS available in English) Go figure.

01 Saya 3:30 02 Break 0:44 03 Touko 3:21 04 Runnin' away 2:40 05 I'm here 2:20 06 Uneasy 1:37 07 Ruria 2:47 08 The King of Darkness 1:30 09 Loneliness 1:51 10 To the edge 1:54 11 My dear dad 1:53 12 Fears comin' 1:06 13 Silence 1:50 14 In the church 2:26 15 Love me, come close to me 1:54 16 The Last Vampire 3:24 17 Tomorrow's Place 4:55

My rip at 320kbps - and my only demand is that you please enjoy. (Though a comment or two would be a happy thing)

Blood: The Last Vampire - OVA - OST - Yoshihiro Ike

Here is something a little different - off the Michiru Oshima thread I've been on the last week or so.

This is the extremely enjoyable OST to the Japanese OVA Blood: The Last Vampire. Why they never made a proper series out of the exploits of this character are beyond me - Blood+ seems to be a reimagining of the story (though I have not seen that series) but from everything I have read - it looks to be a slightly different concept or universe.

ANYWAY - that is neither here nor there - as this is the score to the original one-shot animation that was made for video.

The music is a good mix of high-energy action cues and some nice big-band-era-sounding tunes. It has a similar main theme to Blood+ (and is probably what Mark Mancina used as inspiration)

I bought the CD after originally seeing the video for the first time some years back - and it was quite a hunt at the time - in fact I didn't even find this one first - accidently picking up the (even rarer)game score at a convention (which I'll post next) But I eventually did find it - and have enjoyed it many times since. Most of the tracks and the liner notes are in Japanese - so I'll be unable to give you a complete English track listing (sadly enough). But I'll venture a guess that track lists aren't the real reason you're here - so I'll bring my rant to a close and leave you with the music.

HOWEVER: Do note before accusing me of taking crazy pills - that Amazon.com does list the OST for Blood and has English translations - but the strange thing is - they only list 16 tracks, whreas you'll see that this disk has 18 tracks. Maybe that is the difference between this (The Japanese Release) and the one on Amazon, which is probably the America release. Anywhat - 'tis my rip at 320kbps.

Please Enjoy:

Gojira tai Mosura tai Mekagojira: Tokyo S.O.S. - Michru Oshima

The 28th Godzilla Film (If you count the non-TOHO American version) which I don't so we'll call it the 27th Godzilla film :) Released in Japan in 2003 under the name of "Gojira tai Mosura tai Mekagojira: Tokyo S.O.S." or "Godzilla vs. Mothra vs. Mechagodzilla: Tokyo S.O.S." and otherwise know as the short international title "Godzilla - Tokyo S.O.S".

This is another massive orchestral effort by Michiru Oshima - added to the previous offering, you can start to get a good understanding why she is considered the best modern Godzilla composer - embuing emotion as well as adventure in her scoring. (If only David Arnold had shown some of that range in his disappointing attempt at the Godzilla franchise - but then, that could be rested on the shoulders of the director in that instance I think)

You'll hear some similarities to her score for the Fullmetal Alchemist film here. There are also some more Godzilla SFX to finish off the disk (always good for a ringtone)

This is my own rip (just made today at 320kbps of the Japanese CD)

1. Main Title 2. The Little Women And Mothra 3. Special Hangar # 1 ~ Island Of Memories 4. Akane Yashiro ~ The Prime Minister's Official Residence 5. The Atomic Submarine 6. Antagonism 7. The Enemy Below 8. The Street Fight 9. A Miracle On Campus 10. The Song Of Mothra 11. The Final Decisive Battle 12. Kiryuu Sally Forth! 13. Birth Of The Twins 14. "MOTHER" 15. The Subway Campus 16. The Kiryuu Adjustment Team Waiting Room 17. The Diet Building 18. Prayer 19. "SAYONARA YOSHITO" 20. Returning To The Sea 21. End Roll 22. Unused Tracks 1 23. Unused Tracks 2 24. Sound Effects - Godzilla 25. Sound Effects - Mothra 26. Sound Effects - Mechagodzilla 27. Sound Effects - Maser Cannon 28. "The Song Of Mothra" 2003 Version

As always - please enjoy

Ico: Melody In The Mist - Michiru Oshima

Here is an atmospheric game score by Michiru Oshima. This is quite a departure from the works I have posted previously. Though the name of the album is Ico: Melody In The Mist, you won’t find much melody here – it is mostly ambient background music – which would probably marry up with the graphics from the game quite nicely – as it has a ‘myst’ like quality about it. There is one track that has a good melody to it – “Castle in the Mist” - it is a quite catchy and pretty use of acoustic guitar – and now finds regular rotation in my Oshima mixes. So for fans of something different – this one’s for you.

1. Prologue
2. Coffin
3. Impression
4. Castle In The Mist
5. Beginning
6. Who Are You
7. Darkness
8. Heal
9. The Gate
10. Queen
11. Continue
12. Deja Vu
13. Shadow
14. Entity
15. Collapse
16. Ico - You Were There

Sorry – when I was ripping it for some reason I left off track 16 which is the title song (a very good track!) So it is uploaded separately. This track reminds me quite a bit of Haibane Renmei (another Anime – if anyone is remotely interested – I’ll make this OST available)

Please enjoy:

Fullmetal OST 1&2 - Michiru Oshima

To continue on the theme – here are Michiru Oshima’s two OST albums for the series Fullmetal Alchemist. A very good high-quality anime series. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to grab these albums myself – so they are presented here courtesy of a torrent site I grabbed them from a year or so ago (Which is no longer around) As such they are at a 128kbps rate (if anyone has a better bitrate of these, I’d sure appreciate it, conversely – if I obtain the albums I’ll rip them at a higher rate and repost) If you like these you'll love the film score which is posted in the previous post - where she really gets to play with the themes with an expanded orchestra.

The opening and ending title songs are not composed by Michiro, they are by various Japanese rock/pop acts. But are mostly quite good :)

For a series – the music quality is quite good. Reminds me a little of the stellar work that Mark Mancina did on the Blood+ anime. (Which I believe someone has posted on the Mark Mancina Thread in the forum – if not I’ll up later on)

If anyone has OST3 that would be welcome (I’ve not yet found it)

Gojira tai Megagirasu: Jî shômetsu sakusen

Here is another Michiru Oshima Score for anyone who happens by. This is one of her Godzilla scores - and a good one at that. I've seen this floating around the web ebfore - but never fear - this is my own rip at 320kpbs - so it should sound better than the previous ones I've seen (at 192)

The Literal Translation: Godzilla Vs. Megaguirus: The G Extermination Command

I'd highly suggest picking up the actual CD as it is really cheap on Amazon! You will not regret it. (It is the only affordable Oshima score I have come across so far in my searching.)

The tracklist is as follows: (It even includes some SFX as the final tracks - if you ever wanted to make your computer start up or shut down to the roar of Gojira - now's your big chance!)

4. Operation Area
